“I stuck! I stuck!”
How many times have you heard a toddler say that?
They have gotten themselves into a predicament and they cannot “see” the way out.
Last week I wrote of how life coaching compares to helping a little one learn to walk and it is a great analogy but like our toddler above I hear the words “I’m stuck!” from my clients, too.
I thought it might be beneficial to know that, in addition to helping someone “learn to walk”, a coach can help people unstick the stuck.
Most of us have experienced times we have felt immobile.
We honestly believe that we cannot make the changes to get out of the “place” we are in.
We think that it is not in our power to do so.
Unsticking the “stuck” only takes one step, really. Seriously, have you ever thought about that?
You cannot be stuck if you take a step…
…even a small one.
When we are motionless, our perspective is fixed and our focus is extremely narrow. It is hard to see or imagine our circumstance any other way and we often feel as if our hands are tied. We are trapped and incapable of finding escape.
Through a series of questions, the life coach throws you a rope with a knot on the end.
The questions help change your perspective by casting light on your thoughts and the beliefs supporting those thoughts.
The “rope” gives you something to hold onto while you steady yourself and gain strength.
Then it becomes a source to pull yourself out of the mire of negative thoughts that leave you feeling trapped.
So where is it you are feeling stuck? In your workplace? In a body you don’t love? In your relationships? In your creativity or lack thereof? In your lifestyle? In your unorganized chaos?
Where would you rather be? What do you want to do? Who do you want to be?
I’d love to throw you a rope with a knot on the end and help you answer all these questions and give you some traction to start moving again…in the direction you want to go.
Let’s chat.
