“This is not the life I signed up for!”
“Is this really all there is to life?”
“I wonder what my life would look like now if I had chosen Plan B.”
Perhaps you find yourself saying those things like I did. You may be too afraid to say them out loud for fear that someone else will hear and be disappointed in you or that an audible confession would confirm the truth in your own heart that your life is less than compelling.
Then again, maybe you are ready to own that you are not living Your One Beautiful Life.
and you simply want to know how to get started. The new path opened for me with three simple, yet great questions:
- What are the top three feelings I have on a daily basis?
- What would I rather feel?
- What brings me joy and makes me the happiest?
You might be fairly self-aware and be able to rattle off the answers rapidly, but still not know how to get to a place of feeling different.
Maybe you felt stuck so long you are clueless as to how to answer these questions. It’s okay. Don’t beat yourself up for it, adding more grief to your plate.
Take your time. . . Notice.
Become aware of how you feel.
Name the feelings. Then think about the times you were happiest. What were you doing? It doesn’t have to be BIG to bring you joy. It can be something as simple as “I feel joy when I take a long walk in the woods.” (Ooh, that sounds so nice right now, doesn’t it?)
Remember, these questions are a start. They will help uncover something about you. They will begin to teach you and show you what Your One Beautiful Life looks like.
From there you can discover what it is you REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want. Then the steps can be put in motion with a plan to get you to living the gloriousness of Your One Beautiful Life. (Yes, gloriousness is a made up word, but it is a way to describe living brilliantly, beautiful and magnificient and that is what you want, isn’t it?)
